Castle Brands has announced that Jefferson’s Bourbon, a collection of bourbons made in small batches, has released the newest expression to its portfolio: Jefferson’s Presidential Select 16 Year Old.
Only 10,000 bottles have been produced for this release, intended as a collectable like its predecessor, the original Jefferson’s Presidential Select.
As with several other products in the Jefferson’s portfolio, Jefferson’s Presidential Select 16 Year Old underwent a unique aging process. The bourbon started as a straight Kentucky Bourbon whiskey, first fully matured for 11 years in new American Oak casks. From there, the bourbon was aged for an additional five years in fresh casks.
“The resulting product retains the bright notes found in a classic bourbon, but adds a depth of flavor and complexity that can be gained only through long years of extra aging in new barrels,” the company says. Tasting notes include an orange spice and vanilla aroma, with hints of tobacco, leather and spice, and warm molasses on the finish.
Jefferson’s Presidential Select 16 Year Old has a suggested retail price of $199.99 for a 750-ml. bottle, and is available for purchase at spirits retailers across the country.
