Whisky cocktails are hot, here are eight that we like.

Midnight in Manhattan

1 ¾ oz. Rittenhouse Rye
¼ oz. Amaro
¾ oz. Sweet vermouth
Two splashes Black walnut bitters

Stir all ingredients in a large mason jar with plenty of cubes. Garnish with lit orange zest over finished cocktail and a brandied cherry.

1 ½ oz. Legent bourbon
½ oz. Ginger liqueur
¾ oz. Fresh lemon juice
½ oz. Simple syrup
1 Strawberry 
2 dashes Rhubarb bitters
1 Dash Aromatic bitters

Muddle strawberry in a shaking tin. Add all remaining ingredients and ice. Shake well and strain over ice into a rocks glass. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a slice of lemon.

1 ½ oz. Uncle Nearest 1884 small batch whiskey
1 tsp. Raspberry preserves
½ oz. Simple syrup 
½ oz. Fresh lemon juice
2 dashes Regan’s orange bitters

Combine ingredients and shake. Strain into cocktail glass.

Cannonball Run
1 ½ oz. Angels Envy bourbon
¾ oz. Apricot or peach liqueur from Marie Brizard
¾ oz. Agave syrup (1:1)
1 oz. Lemon juice
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1-2 oz. Club soda

Combine ingredients (except soda) and shake. Strain into a cinnamon-and-sugar-rimmed tall glass and top with club soda. Garnish with a dried apricot or dried peach.

Coffee Julep 
1 oz. Mr. Black coffee liqueur 
1 oz. Bourbon 
¼ oz. Simple syrup (1:1) 
6-8 Mint leaves 

Add liqueur syrup, and mint into a julep cup, or any metal or copper cup, muddle lightly to express mint oils. Add bourbon and lots of crushed or shaved ice, garnish with mint sprigs and a straw.

1 oz. High West American Prairie bourbon
¾ oz. Cognac
½ oz. Yellow Chartreuse
½ oz. Fino sherry

Add all ingredients to a mixing glass and stir with cube ice until chilled. Strain with a julep strainer into a chilled Martini glass. Garnish with an orange twist wrapped around brandied cherries.

New Riff on the Ohio Cocktail

New Riff on the Ohio Cocktail
1 ½ oz. New Riff Kentucky straight rye whiskey
¾ oz. Bigallet china china amaro 
½ oz. Cocchi sweet vermouth
½ oz. Dry Curaçao 
2 oz. Kombucha (unflavored)

Stir all ingredients except kombucha in a mixing glass filled with ice. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice (or over an ice ball) and top with kombucha.

1 ½ oz. Charbay R5 hop flavored whiskey
¾ oz. Aperol
¾ oz. Carpano Antica vermouth
Splash of Cara Cara orange juice

In a large rocks glass over a large ice cube, add ingredients and stir gently to combine and lightly chill; express the oils from a large piece of orange peel over the top of the drink, wiping the oils on the rim of the glass before dropping it into the drink.
