Vivid Cocktails in Living Coral

A Dozen Roses cocktail

The Pantone color of the year for 2019 is Living Coral, “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge,” according to Pantone. A number of bartenders and spirit brands have crafted cocktails that match the vivid orangey-pinkish color. Here are a few that we like.

 

Rose BlossomRosé Blossom
2 oz. Driopi rosé
½ oz. Absolut Citron vodka
½ House peppercorn syrup
5 mint leaves

Combine all ingredients, share vigorously for 30 seconds. Double strain over crushed ice. Garnish with a mint sprig and peppercorn.

A Dozen Roses
(shown atop)
1 ½ oz. Hanger 1 Rose vodka
½ oz. Lillet Blanc
¾ oz. Lemon juice
½ oz. Simple syrup
3 raspberries muddled

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and shake. Double strain into a small coupe with rimmed with rose-petal sugar. Garnish with dried rose, floated.

(Serves 15+)
75 oz. Ford’s Gin
37 ½ oz. Lemon juice
37 ½ oz. Shiso/grapefruit syrup*
25 oz. Aperol
12 ½ oz. Lillet Blanc
15 dashes Angostura bitters

Combine ingredients together and pour over crushed ice.

* For the Shiso/grapefruit syrup:
Peel 3 grapefruits and add peels to one liter of simmering water. Let simmer for 5 minutes and remove from heat. Add 20 shiso leaves and let sit for 15 minutes. Strain and add equal parts sugar.

2 oz. Simple vodka
½ oz. Fresh lime juice
¼ oz. Simple syrup
2 Mint leaves
2 pcs. Fresh watermelon cubes
8-10 pcs. Frozen watermelon cubes
Seltzer

Shake ingredients together and pour over ice. Top with seltzer and garnish watermelon balls on a pick and mint sprig.

2 parts Hendrick’s gin
1 part Giffard Pamplemousse
½ part Apricot liqueur
1 part Fresh lime juice
½ part Egg white

Combine ingredients and shake with ice, then shake without ice. Strain into a coupe and garnish with a rose petal.

2 parts Milagro Silver tequila
1 part Fresh lime juice
¾ part Oregano simple syrup*
4 Watermelon chunks

Muddle watermelon and add remaining ingredients into cocktail shaker. Shake and strain into rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish with fresh oregano leaf and pink peppercorn and coarse salt rim.
